I would like to ask the experts here: it is said that the quality of domestically produced vanadium catalysts can now compare with that of the three major foreign brands, namely Monocle, Topsoe, and BASF. Some manufacturers even claim that there is little difference, or that the domestic catalysts are even better. Is that so? We have been using foreign ones, and now we also want to switch to domestic ones. Thank you.
In terms of application, currently only Whiten’s CHP series can achieve performance on par with that of foreign products

Domestic catalysts should be able to do it. It turns out that a large sulfuric acid factory in Shouguang, Topso, as well as Monsanto, all encountered problems with the quality of the product; it wasn’t up to standard in any of these cases. Eventually, Aobao Catalysts managed to solve the issue. The issues that need to be addressed here are: the catalyst should have a low ignition temperature, and the bulk density should be as low as possible while maintaining strength. Sometimes, a low resistance in the conversion bed can cause flow deviation in the converter. The use of high-resistance catalysts can improve the airflow distribution in the conversion bed to a certain extent; it may seem as though the catalyst is very effective, but this is actually an illusion.
Could Flash Expert explain in more detail? The high resistance is probably due to the domestic catalyst having a filling volume that is about 30% higher than that of the imported catalyst; the higher the filling height, the greater the pressure drop.

The main issue with domestic catalysts is the slow update of their design concepts; this is primarily reflected in lower gas flow rates through the catalyst bed and greater internal diffusion resistance within the catalyst. It is often the case that the activity measured in isothermal integral reactors is higher, but the industrial activity in converters is far surpassed by that of imported products. If possible, please upload this image showing the sulfur combustion conversion process with a catalyst that increases resistance, so that we can learn from it^_^ Over the years, we have carried out numerous modifications to optimize the airflow distribution, and have helped to restore the reputation of many imported as well as domestic catalysts;P
