While anthracite is used as a raw material, biomass fuels such as wood chips are employed as fuel for all subsequent processing steps. Now, due to environmental regulations, the use of anthracite as a raw material and biomass as fuel has been prohibited; improvements must be made this year. The available options are natural gas and alcohol-based fuels. Obviously, the choice is pretty much unanimous: natural gas. It is indeed clean, and its cost is also much lower than that of alcohol-based fuels. There is a low-energy process that can produce precipitated calcium carbonate without calcining limestone.
It involves first turning it into gypsum, or using gypsum as a raw material to react with carbonates at low temperatures to produce light calcium.
This won’t work; the only raw material available here is limestone, which can only be processed into quicklime through calcination in a lime kiln.
