The pilot project on carbon capture using the Nanhua membrane method has passed acceptance tests

In 2026, the 25th National \"Safety Production Month\" will focus on the importance of safety for everyone and the need for everyone to know how to respond in emergency situations, as well as on identifying and addressing potential risks and hazards. On June 16, the project **\"Large-scale production and application of high-performance mixed matrix gas separation composite membranes,\"** for which Nanhua Company was involved, passed the evaluation by an expert panel from the Ministry of Science and Technology. 　　This project is a specific task under the **Key R&D Program on ‘High-End Functions and Intelligent Materials’, focusing on hybrid-matrix carbon dioxide separation membranes. Nanhua Company took the lead in the design, construction, and operation of the application device for carbon dioxide separation using mixed matrix membranes in this project, thereby establishing China’s first pilot-scale membrane-based carbon capture unit capable of operating for a thousand hours. Leveraging the gas separation technology expertise accumulated by Nanhua Company, this project overcame various key challenges such as the mass production of membrane materials, component processing, and system integration, thereby establishing a complete chain from laboratory research to the industrialization of complete sets of equipment, along with comprehensive process and operational standards. Compared to the traditional amine-based decarbonization method, the new process requires less energy, occupies less space, and does not need the use of chemical reagents, offering a low-cost alternative for reducing carbon emissions in thermal power generation and coal chemical industries.
