Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued a notice to carry out industrial energy conservation inspections for the year 2026, outlining four key tasks: energy efficiency inspections in key industry sectors, energy efficiency inspections of key industrial chains, energy efficiency inspections of major energy-consuming equipment, and inspections to assess the progress made in correcting violations by enterprises identified in 2025. Energy efficiency monitoring is carried out in key industrial sectors, with a focus on enterprises in industries such as steel, synthetic ammonia, oil refining, ethylene, caustic soda, soda ash, methanol, polyvinyl chloride, electrolytic aluminum, industrial silicon, cement, flat glass, building and sanitary ceramics, as well as computing facilities. In principle, full coverage of energy efficiency monitoring for enterprises in these industries in the respective regions is to be achieved by 2026–2027 (full coverage should be achieved by 2026 for enterprises producing polyvinyl chloride using the calcium carbide method). Energy efficiency monitoring in key industrial chains focuses on sectors such as photovoltaic modules, wind turbines, power and energy storage batteries, as well as equipment for water electrolysis to produce hydrogen. Special energy-saving inspections are carried out on key enterprises at various stages, including raw material procurement, manufacturing, and final assembly, with an emphasis on examining the energy consumption during production processes and the energy efficiency of major products. Efficiency monitoring of key energy-consuming equipment is carried out, with a focus on enterprises in key industries and supply chains; energy-saving inspections are conducted on such equipment as motors, transformers, fans, pumps, air compressors, and industrial boilers. In conjunction with relevant departments, these enterprises are urged to phase out inefficient equipment that does not meet the mandatory efficiency standards. In addition, a follow-up review will be conducted on the enterprises found to be in violation of regulations during the industrial energy conservation inspections in 2025. Those that fail to make the necessary corrections or do so inadequately will be dealt with in accordance with laws and regulations.
