The 25th National \"Safety Production Month\" in 2026: Everyone talks about safety, and everyone knows how to handle emergencies; identifying and addressing risks and hazards. -------------------------------------------------- Recently, two innovative technologies developed by the Tianjin Desalination and Comprehensive Utilization Research Institute of the Ministry of Natural Resources – namely, the \"Green and Efficient Chemicals for Seawater Circulating Cooling Water Treatment\" and the \"Solar Interfacial Photothermal Conversion Technology for Seawater Utilization\" – were included in the \"Tianjin Resources and Environment (Green and Low-Carbon) Science and Technology Innovation Blue Book.\" 　　Among them, the green and efficient seawater-based circulating cooling water treatment technology uses raw seawater instead of fresh water as the cooling medium, reducing the overall operating costs by more than half compared to fresh water-based circulating cooling systems. To address industry challenges such as residual chlorine from conventional chemicals, phosphorus-related eutrophication, and delays in the addition of chemical treatments, the research team has successfully developed non-oxidizing biocides and algaecides, phosphorus-free scale inhibitors, phosphorus-free corrosion inhibitors, along with corresponding intelligent control technologies. Currently, this technology covers 70% of the total scale of seawater circulation cooling in China; it replaces 500 million tons of fresh water annually, reduces the intake and discharge of seawater by 20 billion tons, and cuts COD emissions by 12,000 tons per year. 　　The solar interfacial photothermal conversion technology for seawater resource utilization builds on the technical expertise in the design, preparation, and performance optimization of photothermal conversion functional membrane materials developed by the desalination research unit, and demonstrates the phased achievements obtained through pilot tests and process adaptation. Leveraging a membrane separation and photothermal synergy technology system with independent intellectual property rights, the team has partnered with leading domestic enterprises to accelerate the transformation of these technological achievements into practical productive forces, thereby supporting green and low-carbon development in coastal and water-scarce areas.
