Recently, the polypropylene unit of the Fujian Zhongsha Gulei 1.5 million tons per year ethylene and downstream processing complex project, which is under the general contract of China National Chemical Corporation Hualu, successfully completed the installation of 12 large-scale packaging silos in one go, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent installation of the steel structure and pipelines in the packaging building. Located in the Guli Petrochemical Complex, one of the country’s seven major petrochemical industrial hubs, this project has a total investment of around $6.4 billion. It represents a significant example of the close integration between the high-quality Belt and Road Initiative and Saudi Arabia’s 2030 Vision, and it is set to generate substantial value once it is completed and put into operation in the second half of 2026. The high-end chemical products produced will be widely used in key sectors such as electronics and electrical engineering, artificial intelligence, communications, healthcare, the automotive industry, and new materials. They will not only effectively fill the gap in the market demand for high-end chemical products but also create extensive investment opportunities downstream in the industrial chain, thereby providing sustained momentum for the high-quality development of this industry. The equipment to be lifted weighs 40 tons, is 30.15 meters long and 7.6 meters in diameter, with a lifting height of 32.8 meters. A 750-ton truck crane is used as the main crane, while a 130-ton truck crane is used as an auxiliary crane for the lifting operation. To ensure the safe and smooth installation of the equipment, the project team coordinated in advance with the owner, the silo manufacturer, and the construction contractor to review and optimize the equipment transportation and lifting plans. They also carried out surveys of the transportation routes and coordinated efforts to address any potential issues, in addition to conducting specialized tests on the bearing capacity of the ground at the lifting site, to guarantee that all safety requirements were met. To reduce the risks associated with future work at high altitudes and improve installation efficiency, the project team coordinated the efforts of various specialized teams to complete the installation of the pipelines attached to the tower as well as the auxiliary ladder platforms prior to lifting operations. This approach provided crucial support for the successful one-time lifting of all 12 large packaging silos.
