It has been in use for less than half a year, and there was often a humming noise coming from the screw feeding section. After disassembling it, it was found that the screw was worn out. I would like to ask the experts: what is the cause of this? Thank you
Excessive feed rate results in the material not melting in time, leading to increased pressure at the head of the screw; this can cause the screw to bend and come into contact with the inner walls of the machine, or metal particles may end up mixed in
Check the rotor positioning pins and bearings, as these two determine the distance between the male and female rotors
With such severe wear as yours, it’s necessary to check the mechanical issues of the equipment. When the machine first starts operating, if too much material is fed in and it doesn’t melt quickly enough, the material will rub against the inner walls, resulting in a screeching sound. Additionally, the torque levels will fluctuate significantly. Operating in this condition for an extended period can cause the screw to bend, which in turn increases friction with the inner walls of the cylinder. It is recommended to control the feeding rate during operation; once the temperature rises, the feeding amount should be increased gradually. For the equipment itself, the larger the shaft diameter, the more severe the wear on the inner wall occurs when the feeding load is high.
It’s possible that the concentricity isn’t correct, they’re not on the same level, or the material doesn’t match the previous design
Has the granulator been in operation for 10 years? If it’s 10 years or more, it’s basically the same! Replace the screw, or repair it!
