Should gate valves or globe valves be used at the inlet and outlet of the high-pressure feed water pump? In our company’s medium-temperature and medium-pressure boilers, the atmospheric deaerators, and feed water pumps have gate valves at the inlet and globe valves at the outlet. The valve core of the inlet gate valve has fallen off twice; some people suggest using globe valves instead, but those who are against this idea say that gate valves were used in the original installation and therefore cannot be changed.
