Disassembly and maintenance of HOWDEN screw compressors in the UK

The compressor model is Howden WRV 204; the brand is HOWDEN from the UK – no need to introduce it here, as most people are likely already familiar with it. As shown in the figure, once the exhaust side is opened, the interior of the compressor is completely contaminated with black tar deposits. This is a view of the intake end cover. Be aware that there is a lot of carbon buildup. Carbon deposits are at the bottom of the engine block. The bearing cavity is relatively clean. There are no scratches at all. This thrust bearing is an angular contact ball bearing. Two thrust bearings are used in each rotor to balance the axial force. This is a picture of the thrust bearing on the rotor. The thrust bearing retainer of the rotor breaks, resulting in severe damage to the balls as well as the inner and outer rings. This type of bearing damage may be caused by lubrication issues such as insufficient lubricating oil. The rotor is relatively clean. Measurements show that it has worn out. It was also noted that there was no obvious damage on the rotor surface or at the rotor ends. This compressor was manually shut down just before it was about to lock up; the employees have a strong sense of technical awareness and managed to stop it before any danger occurred, which shows that the technical training we provided was effective.
Can the device mentioned by the original poster be repaired in China?
Domestic machines aren’t profitable; it’s only okay when the volume is high. Fixing one or two units will result in a loss for us

The chillers here are overhauled every four years; they are also from Hautton, and the overhauls are done by us ourselves.
