How long can a sliding bearing operate under normal lubricating oil pressure, and what are the effects of short-term operation?
What does operating at normal pressure mean? Is there no external pressure supply for the lubricating oil? It can operate for a long time without external pressure; the sliding bearings at both ends of the 3000kw motor are operated without external pressure.
If the fuel is supplied from a high-position tank, it would take about 3 minutes I guess; if the time is longer, it will damage the bearing shells! Running for a long time is definitely not possible – lubricant cannot carry away heat!
There is a high-mounted fuel tank. One of our units stopped operating due to improper operation of the main oil pump, which caused the compressor to stop instantly. If the interlock that stops the compressor operates 10 seconds after the main oil pump stops, what impact would that have? Could it lead to damage to the bearings?

I don’t recommend setting it. First of all, who decided on 10 seconds? What is the basis for quantitative data such as one second more or one second less? ? Secondly, no one can guarantee with certainty that giving you an extra 10 seconds will ensure that components such as the engine bearing shells are problem-free. Third, do you want those extra ten seconds so that the auxiliary oil pump can start automatically? Or will the operator manage to get the oil pressure back to normal within these short ten seconds? ? Personally, I still don’t recommend making random changes; there is a reason behind the fuel tanks and high-position fuel tanks designed by the manufacturers. . .
