Everyone, please take a look at the holes on the thrust disc

Dear sea friends, could you help figure out what these holes are used for?
No holes can be seen on the thrust disc; a ring of small grooves is visible on the edge of the radial bearing journal
If it refers to the notches on the circumference, it is likely used for measuring rotational speed.
It seems to be used for connecting instrument wires. Does the original poster know what the holes in my picture are for? How many holes are there usually?
This hole of yours should be a balance hole; the exact number should be determined during the design phase.
They are balance holes, usually 5 or 7 in number.
