What are the functions of self-cleaning in centrifugal pumps? Rinsing, cooling, lubrication, sealing.
Self-flushing: The medium delivered by the pump itself is forced into the sealing chamber through small holes in the end-face seal gland. Mixing with the medium inside the pump is called self-cleaning. Pumps with self-cleaning functionality can be used to transport media that are generally at low temperatures (<100℃) and are relatively clean; these media are usually light oils or water. Put simply, self-flushing of mechanical pumps cannot be used for liquids with high temperatures and high viscosity, as such liquids can damage the pump when they enter its interior; high viscosity also makes it difficult for these liquids to exit the pump. Self-flushing effect: There are generally four types of self-flushing effects. The first one is the flushing effect, which removes impurities resulting from the friction between the rotating ring and the stationary ring ; The second is the lubricating effect; it maintains a layer of liquid film between the sealed surfaces, which serves as a lubricant ; The third function is cooling: it removes the heat generated by friction between the moving ring and the stationary ring during operation, thereby reducing the temperature of the sealing elements and extending their service life ; The fourth function is sealing: it prevents air from outside the pump from entering the pump, thus serving as a seal.
Reduce the temperature of the mechanical seal, lubricate it, and flush out impurities
Four functions: flushing, lubrication, cooling, and sealing
Self-flushing generally has four functions. The first one is the flushing function, which removes impurities resulting from friction between the rotating ring and the stationary ring; The second is the lubricating effect; it maintains a layer of liquid film between the sealed surfaces, which serves as a lubricant ; The third function is cooling: it removes the heat generated by friction between the moving ring and the stationary ring during operation, thereby reducing the temperature of the sealing elements and extending their service life ; The fourth function is sealing: it prevents air from outside the pump from entering the pump, thus serving as a seal.
