Question: What is the working principle of stepless air volume control in reciprocating compressors?

Load adjustment of 0%~25%~50%~75% refers to the number of suction valves that open during the compression to exhaust phase (in simple terms); stepless air volume control means that the number of suction valves that open is determined based on the piston’s stroke, with the piston’s position being measured by the flywheel.
Everything said upstairs is correct. I’d like to add that the variable capacity control system allows the compressor’s load to be adjusted continuously from 0% to 100%. By setting the compressor’s discharge pressure, the system forces the intake valve to open during the piston compression process (the timing for opening the valve is determined by the system). Some of the fluid returns through the intake valve back into the intake pipe, so that the compressor does not do any work during the time the valve is open; it only compresses the fluid that can reach the desired discharge pressure. This enables both the intake and exhaust valves to be fully closed, thereby reducing the compressor’s energy consumption. However, this may lead to increased vibration in the intake pipes or within the compressor itself.
