Are there any requirements regarding the voltage drop between stages in the design? What effects can too high or too low a voltage drop have?
The compressor has to work hard to build up pressure; if you lower it again, the pressure drop between stages becomes excessive, which increases energy consumption and may also cause overheating in the next stage.
