Can the circulating cooling water of a water-cooled dry gas compressor leak into the dry gas?
Coolers can leak; gases with pressure lower than atmospheric pressure leak into the cooling water, while water with pressure higher than atmospheric pressure can be drawn into the dry gas. Generally, during operation, it is possible to determine whether the cooler is leaking by measuring the dew point of the gas inside the pipe, or by checking whether gas is being discharged through the exhaust valve at the top of the cooler.
