A new 10,000V explosion-proof motor with 280kW capacity has been installed – is it necessary to apply lubricant before using it? The motor was manufactured within the past year; it has a grease filling port and a sampling port at the bottom. Please ask an experienced technician for guidance!
It’s not necessary; monitor the bearing temperature, and replace it after 2000 hours
From personal experience, it is necessary to change the oil: open the bearing cover, clean out the existing lubricant, and then add new lubricant. Main purposes: 1. Prevent the existing grease from deteriorating, which could affect lubrication ; 2. The newly added grease may undergo a chemical reaction with the existing grease, affecting lubrication. This is just my personal opinion; please feel free to correct me!
Under normal circumstances, motors should be lubricated with grease before leaving the factory and also undergo trial runs. Since the time since installation and commissioning is not long, it might not be necessary to add more grease, but this still needs to be confirmed by the manufacturer. In some large motors, it is necessary to apply new grease shortly after their first operation

In some large motors, new grease needs to be applied not long after their first operation; make sure that the grade of the new grease is the same as that used before. Grease should be added while the motor is running, and the bearing temperature should be monitored at all times – do not add too much grease!
High-voltage motors of 10,000V generally require forced lubrication. If there is a filling port, it is necessary to apply lubricant regularly, usually once every three months. Each time you do this, pay attention to changes in the bearing temperature and make sure that old lubricant comes out as well
