Hello everyone: For some fans, compressors, etc., should couplings (back pulleys) be installed cold or hot? Are there any specific regulatory requirements?
Whether it is to be installed cold or hot was determined at the design stage. For hot fitting, it is necessary to measure the actual interference amount, and then determine the heating temperature based on the material of the coupling; if the interference amount is too large, the shaft ends also need to be cooled. Cold installation generally uses hydraulic expansion, and manufacturers provide strict installation instructions.
