Will changing the material of the inner and outer rings of the wound gasket from 304 to Q235B have an impact on its performance during use? Thank you. The medium temperature is 400 degrees.
It should have little impact; the use of either one shouldn’t pose any problems in terms of temperature. However, considering the materials involved, it might not work
It can be used in cases where the corrosivity requirements for the medium are not high. If cost is a concern, choose ordinary material.
According to current standards. The material of the inner ring should be the same as that of the steel strip in the gasket (this is mainly to address corrosion issues, as both the inner ring and the sealing surface come into contact with the medium; older standards allowed the use of carbon steel strips, but this is no longer permitted under the new standards), while the outer ring can be of a lower grade.
The inner and outer rings of the wound gasket are called reinforcement rings, and their purpose is to provide reinforcement; at the same time, it is necessary to consider the compatibility of these reinforcement rings, especially the inner ring, with the medium. At such high temperatures, heat-resistant reinforcement rings should be used.
