May I ask the experts: what grade of welding material should be used for welding stainless steel flanges to titanium (sealing surface)?
Can it be welded? At most, silver brazing can be used for sealing. There are many gasket flanges made of titanium
Titanium and stainless steel cannot be welded together. A titanium sealing ring is machined and fitted onto the stainless steel flange, after which a titanium tube is inserted into the flange hole and welded to the sealing ring.
I have a 2MP small reactor; the titanium heating rod is welded to the stainless steel wall, but it was manufactured by an external contractor, and I don’t know how the welding was done.
Titanium is welded to titanium, stainless steel is welded to stainless steel; for joints between stainless steel and titanium, composite plates are used, and linings are employed for flanges.
