I would like to ask the experts: There is a piece of equipment that needs to have its interior lined with stainless steel plates. I want to know whether the hydraulic testing should be carried out before or after the lining is installed. In my opinion, performing hydraulic testing before lining violates the requirement that welding should not take place while there is pressure present; on the other hand, carrying out hydraulic testing after the lining is in place prevents it being possible to conduct pressure tests on the tank itself. I would appreciate hearing the experts’ opinions. Thank you
Conduct a hydrostatic test after the lining is welded
I haven’t done it before, but in my opinion, the lining should first undergo a pressure resistance test to ensure it passes, and then its sealing performance should be checked.
The earliest repairs were carried out on-site, with several linings replaced; however, a brand new container has not been constructed yet. I’m not aware of any specific standards or requirements in this regard, but personally I think it’s necessary to first conduct a pressure test on the container to assess its strength, as the lining is only needed for corrosion protection.
The lining is first tested for pressure resistance, and then a sealing test is conducted on it.
