1. If the heat exchanger is relatively long, standard expansion joints with a large wave pattern as specified in GB/T16749 should be used. When the pressure is low, the thickness of standard 304 expansion joints is only 3.5 mm; in such cases, is it necessary to consider the effect of the bending moment at the cross-section between the two saddles on the expansion joint? Is it required to use mounting bolts for transportation? 2. If an austenitic expansion joint is used and fatigue is considered for a single layer, it is required that no plug be installed at the bottom. What should be done in such cases if the water used for the hydrostatic test inside the expansion joint, as well as the residual liquid remaining after shutdown, cannot be completely drained? Is it necessary to readjust the structure and materials so that fatigue need not be considered?
Expansion joints are not used for compensating for displacements; a thinner thickness results in a greater displacement compensation per unit length. Whether to install a plug at the bottom depends on the user’s choice, taking into account factors such as the medium in use
