I checked the corrosion data manual; aluminum used with formaldehyde is susceptible to pitting corrosion, but overall, the performance is good; Phenol can be stored in aluminum cans. I recommend using 316 material for formaldehyde and 304 for phenol. Aluminum has low strength, so the wall thickness should be relatively thick. Problems are not easy to handle.
