The inner diameter of the cylinder is 550 mm, the wall thickness is 4 mm, and the design pressure is 1.0 Mpa. The inner diameter of the jacket is 600 mm, the wall thickness is 4 mm, the design pressure is 0.8 Mpa, and the design temperature is 200°C. The customer fed steam at 0.6 Mpa and 180°C into the jacket, resulting in a disaster: the inner wall of the cylinder was severely deformed, destroying the filters as well. The device was pressure-tested before leaving the factory; leaks occurred at the welds, which were repaired, and no leaks were detected during another pressure test. May I ask everyone, what causes this phenomenon? Is there a problem with the design of this device? How to correct it?
Calculated using sw6, 3mm is sufficient
For static and dynamic fluid problems, with a jacket pressure of 0.8, it’s obvious that the jacket is causing the cylinder to deform; aren’t there reinforcing ribs on the outer diameter of the jacket?
It is under pressure from both the inside and outside; this must be a film-evaporation evaporator
