Which American standard does TP 309L fall under?

I don’t see this grade in A312
SA312 contains TP309, but without L

Yes, I’ve seen claims that 309L has a lower carbon content than 309, which gives it better corrosion resistance. However, this isn’t specified in the ASTM standards for steel pipes; could it be specified in the standards for steel plates?
There isn’t any; it’s not a steel plate. The TP marking is only used on pipes. Those with an L usually belong to the low-carbon category, such as TP316, TP316L, TP304, TP304L; however, 309 does not have an L

The notation for welding shouldn’t be like this. In surfacing processes, 309 is often used as a transition material to reduce the dilution of the base material by the surfacing material and to maintain the Cr-Ni content. Typically, a layer of 309 about 3 mm thick is applied as a transition layer to ensure the corrosion resistance of 316L.
