Why does 6.4.2 on page 28, which states \"This clause does not apply to flat lids placed on a flat base (for use as tank bottoms)\", not apply to flat lids used as tank bottoms? How then is the flat lid used as the bottom of the jar designed?
Are you saying that when using a flat cover for the bottom of a tank, it is necessary to take into account the pressure of the medium, and calculate it according to the standards for flat covers of pressure vessels?
In my understanding, a flat base provides support for the flat cover; therefore, the stress on the flat cover is less than that in the case of no such support, and its calculated thickness is lower than that specified in 6.4.2. In other words, in this case, using the calculation results from 6.4.2 is on the conservative side.
These are two completely opposite viewpoints to those on the 2nd floor. :lol:lol

For low-diameter pressure vessels placed on the ground under normal pressure, using flat heads with rounded corners allows for a thinner design. In such vessels, the main factor to consider is hydrostatic pressure; the joint where the cylinder meets the base plate is a location where stresses are complex. For those vessels that are both small in diameter and tall, flat heads with rounded corners must be used. Therefore, both the 4th and 2nd floor responses are correct
