Can static equipment such as storage tanks be without foot bolts? What is the purpose of laying a layer of sand on the foundation surface when installing a storage tank?
Previously they were called fixed-pressure vessels; now, according to GB150-2011, they are simply referred to as pressure vessels. I think this is because some of them don’t need to be fixed in place. So now we need to discuss which cases involve vessels that don’t require fixation

Yeah, I got it wrong – the new standard expands the range of applications for the design of materials. According to the TSG21-2016 Regulations on Safety Technical Inspection of Fixed Pressure Vessels, for equipment under TSG jurisdiction that does not have mounting brackets or anchor bolt holes, it is recommended to adopt an on-site fixing method.

Which storage tank standard is being referred to? Does it mean that for designs and constructions without footings, footings need to be added separately?

Regarding GB 50341, whether foundation bolts are needed for storage tanks depends on the requirements for wind resistance and seismic stability, as determined through calculations. For economic reasons, it is not necessary to make the tank foundation completely rigid within the allowable deflection range of the metal tank bottom; aside from the concrete ring beams beneath the wall panels, fine sand and gravel can be used in the middle section. Additionally, the fixed pressure vessels mentioned above do not refer to whether they are secured with foundation bolts; this concept of fixation is used in contrast to pressure vessels that are often moved around, such as tank trucks and gas cylinders
Self-stabilizing (with a negative axial force on the bolt) can be secured using bolts at fixed positions only. For small heights with a direct ratio, it can be left unset.
