The design pressure and design temperature of a vessel are both determined under the conditions of maximum operating temperature and maximum operating pressure. So, can the vessel operate under these design pressure and design temperature conditions?

This post was last edited by bluishice on 2020-1-5 08:25. It’s acceptable as long as it does not exceed the MAWP; the definition of MAWP can be found in clause 3.1.6 of GB/T150.1-2011. The design pressure generally includes a margin. MAWP is the true limit.
It may not work; for example, with work pressure at 0. 8 MPa, with a safety valve setting pressure of 0.84 MPa. The design pressure is 0.88 MPa; it cannot operate at 0.88 MPa.
Generally speaking, this is not allowed. Because there are working temperature and working pressure involved in the first place. And the key point is the relationship between temperature and pressure. For example, at 275°C, the saturated vapor pressure of water is approximately 5.8 MPa; however, at 300°C, it rises to around 8.5 MPa. Although the temperature increased by just over 20 degrees, the pressure rose very rapidly.
If the actual calculation shows that the MAWP of this device is 1.0 MPa, then it can be used under overpressure conditions; this can be achieved by increasing the setting pressure of the safety valve. As for what procedures need to be followed, one must ask the local regulatory authorities. Of course, MAWP is related to temperature. Increasing the temperature can be considered, to a certain extent, as increasing the pressure.

It shouldn’t be possible; work pressure generally fluctuates and represents an average value, not the highest level of pressure.
