Help: What are the main differences between ASEM DIV1 and DIV2? DIV1 stipulates that it is generally not applicable for pressures exceeding 20 Mpa; then what marking can be used for design when the container pressure exceeds 20 Mpa? Does anyone have the ASME standards? Could you send me a copy? Or the pressure vessel design manual? My email address is dodoren@126.com. Thank you!
One is a conventional design, and the other is an analytical design
Does Part 1 state that the pressure should not exceed 20 MPa? What design for over?
As per Volume VIII-1, U-1(d), the value generally should not exceed 20 Mpa. If it exceeds 20 Mpa, the designer must take into account the limitations of using only Volume VIII-1 guidelines for designing such high-pressure containers. Even after addressing these limitations and designing the container in a way that meets all the relevant requirements outlined in Volume VIII-1, it is still possible to apply the U mark. Volumes VIII-II can also be used directly to design containers with pressures exceeding 20 Mpa and less than 70 Mpa. If it exceeds 70 Mpa, the VIII-3 volume design must be used.
I read the original text; it states that U1 can be sealed after making adjustments to the design principles and adding supplementary content, but it doesn’t specify what these adjustments and additions are Could you give some advice?
Each type of container is different, so it’s simply impossible to specify exact tolerance values in the standards. My personal suggestion is to design it according to Div2. Otherwise, AI wouldn’t approve of it so easily either.
