Dear experts: I have a question. According to GB10560, it is permitted that \"in the same pressure system, if there is already a safety valve at the source of pressure, then other equipment does not need to be equipped with safety valves.\" Can simple pressure vessels be designed without safety valves? If a safety valve is installed, is it necessary to have it inspected regularly?
Take a look at the as-built drawings to see if a safety valve is required; generally, for newly designed systems, the model, diameter, and set pressure of the safety valve are specified. Pressure sources are equipped with effective safety accessories; other devices in the system may not require such accessories, but they still need to be treated differently: 1. It is advisable to install them as indicated in the general as-built drawings. 2. The set pressure of the safety valve for pressure sources must not exceed the design pressure or the maximum allowable pressure of other equipment in the system. 3. Other devices in the system are generally heat exchange devices.
Simple pressure vessels do not require regular inspection during their designed service life; but what about the safety valves installed on them – do those need regular inspection?
This needs to be verified, but safety accessories on equipment that are not subject to regulation generally go unmonitored. Of course, it is the responsibility of the user to carry out verifications on a regular basis; if a problem arises due to the lack of such verifications, the user will bear significant responsibility.
The instruments that are subject to mandatory inspection above also need to be calibrated.
Safety valves must be inspected annually; failing to conduct such inspections on schedule constitutes a serious hazard for the equipment. If it’s detected, a fine will be imposed.
If there is already a safety valve at the source of pressure, no additional safety valve is necessary; otherwise, one must be installed and regularly calibrated.
Although simple pressure vessels do not require regular inspection and registration. However, regular self-inspections are still required; these include annual inspections and monthly inspections, and the safety valves installed there should also be calibrated regularly.
Under normal circumstances, a safety valve must be installed, and it also needs to be inspected regularly! If you don’t test it, how will you know if it has failed? !
The lifecycle management of simple pressure vessels is generally carried out in accordance with the standards for fixed pressure vessels; they are also equipped with safety accessories such as safety valves and pressure gauges. Section 9.1.1 of TSG 21–2016, the \"Safety Technical Inspection Regulations for Fixed Pressure Vessels,\" stipulates that safety accessories must undergo regular inspections, and therefore the safety valves of simple pressure vessels also need to be inspected once a year.
All I’ve encountered are annual inspections; actually, according to relevant laws and regulations, the inspection interval can be extended.
