Since Pan Jiluan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, first received the China Welding Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001, 12 scholars in the field of welding have been honored with this award. Among them, 4 are academians from various academies; these 4 are also the only academians in the field of welding. In addition, there is Professor Wu Lin, director of the Key Laboratory of Welding at Harbin Institute of Technology, as well as Engineer Hou Lizun, chairman of Qiaowei Materials Group Co., Ltd. in the welding industry. These professionals have made significant contributions to the development of welding in China. For this reason, the Welding Society of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society established the “China Welding Lifetime Achievement Award” as the highest honor in China’s welding academic community. From Ruichang City, Jiangxi Province. Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, professor at Tsinghua University, vice president of the International Welding Institute, president of the Chinese Welding Society, and vice president of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society. In 1984, he was awarded the first prize for innovation and invention. Guan Qiao, born on July 2, 1935, from Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province. An academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, currently serving as the director of the Department of Mechanical and Transportation Engineering at the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He once served as president of the Chinese Welding Society, vice president and member of the academic committee of the International Institute of Welding (IIW). In 1988, he was awarded the title of “Young and Middle-Aged Expert with Outstanding Contributions” at the ** level; in 1989 he received the title of “National Advanced Worker.” In 1992 he was honored with the Aviation Industry’s highest award, the Aviation Gold Award. Won 7 first, second, and third prizes for scientific and technological progress, 2 second prizes for technical inventions, as well as 14 first and second prizes for scientific and technological progress at the provincial/ministerial and military levels. Lin Shangyang, male, was born on March 16, 1932, in Xiamen, Fujian Province. Graduated from Harbin Institute of Technology with a degree in welding. Currently the deputy chief engineer of the China Academy of Mechanical Sciences, chairman of the technical committee of the Harbin Welding Research Institute, and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. It has successively won awards such as the **Third Prize for Invention and Creation**, the **Second Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress**, and the **Third Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress**. Song Tianhu, male, born in August 1940, graduated from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Tianjin University. He has served as the director of the Harbin Welding Research Institute, the president of the Academy of Mechanical Sciences, and the head of the Department of Science, Technology and Quality under the Ministry of Machinery Industry. He has successively served as a member of the Discipline Evaluation Committee of the State Council’s Academic Degrees Committee, a member of the State Council’s Academic Degrees Committee, former president of the Chinese Welding Society (and currently an executive committee member), and vice president and executive committee member of the International Welding Society. Chen Jianhong, male, from Hangzhou, Zhejiang, born in June 1937. Graduated from Tsinghua University with a degree in welding; former president of Gansu University of Technology. Was a delegate to the 6th Ren Congress, as well as a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference from the 8th to the 10th terms. Served as chairman, director, executive director, vice-president, and president of various committees of the National Welding Society. Chen Bingsen was born in July 1933 in Yangzhou, Jiangsu. He graduated from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Tsinghua University. He has held various positions, including deputy director of the Welding Teaching and Research Section at Tsinghua University, director of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering, and member of the Party Committee of Tsinghua University. Since 1990, he has served as vice president of the Chinese Welding Society as well as chairman of its Academic Work Committee; from 1990 to 1995, he was also chairman of the Professional Committee on Numerical Analysis and CAD/CAM. In the 1990s, he was appointed as a member of the ‘Boiler and Pressure Vessel Safety Technology Assessment Committee’ by the Ministry of Labor. Chen Bingsen was involved in leading several projects, including those related to full-position automatic welding machines for large-diameter thick-walled pipes, and won **multiple awards. Hou Lizun, male, born in 1923, was the former chief engineer and technical director of Tianjin Welding Rod Factory. He served as the chairman, general manager, and chief engineer of Jinqiao Welding Materials Group Co., Ltd. He is a renowned expert in welding rod manufacturing in China, and was a member of the Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth National Committees of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference. Over the past decade or so, more than 30 million yuan has been donated to social welfare causes in total. On November 20, 2005, it received the first \"China Charity Award\". Shi Yaowu was born in Beijing on November 26, 1940, and graduated from Xi’an Jiaotong University. In 1991, they were awarded certificates of honor by the Education Commission and the Ministry of Labor and Personnel for their outstanding contributions as returnees from abroad; starting in 1992, they received special allowances issued by the State Council. Has been working at Beijing University of Technology since 1995. Wu Zuanqian, male, born in December 1935, senior engineer. In 1963, he obtained a Candidate of Technical Sciences degree from the Bauman Higher Technical School in Moscow, Soviet Union. Former Deputy Director of the Materials Research Laboratory at Shanghai Steam Turbine and Boiler Research Institute ; Director of the Materials and Processes Research Laboratory, Deputy Chief Engineer, etc., at the Shanghai Power Generation Equipment Complete Design and Research Institute. He was involved in research on the materials and welding techniques for the primary system equipment in the Qinshan 300MW and 600MW nuclear power projects, serving as one of the leaders of the research team. He received multiple awards for achievements in nuclear power technology and was honored by the Shanghai Nuclear Power Office. Shan Ping, a professor at the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Tianjin University, is one of the key leaders in the field of welding at this university. He is dedicated to research on welding process control and automation, as well as structural strength and fracture. He was the first in our country to conduct research on the relationship between the opening displacement of crack tips and strain levels in large-sized welded test plates, providing a theoretical basis for the safety assessment of cracks in welded vessels; this research was adopted in the **Established Standards for Safety Assessment of Pressure Vessels**. In the late 1980s, Professor Shan Ping began research on vibration flash welding for pipelines in order to address the backwardness of welding equipment and techniques for oil and gas pipelines in China. In 1990, he developed China’s first vibration flash welding machine for pipelines with a diameter of (219–273) mm. Professor Shan Ping has also carried out extensive work on computer simulation calculations for the welding process. Furthermore, in line with the development trends toward electric vehicles and lighter automobiles, Professor Shan Ping has also conducted extensive and fruitful research on the mechanism of spot welding of aluminum alloys as well as process control. He also served as an executive committee member of the International Welding Institute from 2002 to 2006, as well as the seventh and eighth president of the Chinese Welding Society, contributing significantly to the development of the welding industry.
