The chord length tolerance of the through-holes in the flange studs of pressure vessels is out of spec, which results in some studs not being able to pass through. Is it possible to increase the diameter of these through-holes so that the studs can pass through? Does increasing the diameter of the stud hole have a significant impact on the strength of the flange? What is the maximum difference that can exist between the diameter of the through-hole in the stud and the diameter of the stud itself? Are there any relevant materials?
The diameter of the through-holes passing through the studs can be increased; the main failure mode for flanges is leakage, and enlarging the bolt holes has little impact. In the case of quick-release flange connections, the bolt holes are of U-shaped design. But I don’t know how much the diameter of the bolt hole can differ from the bolt diameter, and I haven’t found any relevant information either. If its impact really needs to be evaluated, only analysis and design can be carried out.

I think. It’s out of tolerance; the relative position of the bolts has changed. The stress on the flange changes. Your flange is a defective product; it does not meet the tolerance requirements for bolt holes as specified in GB/T150, so it cannot be used.
