Can a rigid ring-shaped support be used as a reinforcement ring?

As the title suggests, it’s a device that uses rigid ring-shaped mounts; actually, there are no proper mounts – rather, there are weld plates on the outer wall of the housing, along with two rings of rigid material. Can these be used as reinforcing rings? I would appreciate your guidance. Thank you!
It should be possible; non-standard items should be calculated, right?
