It’s not a design flaw, but rather a highly ingenious engineering solution for the plate heat exchanger! Reserved long bolts are primarily intended to meet the requirements for flexibility and reliability of the equipment in actual use. There are three main reasons: ease of maintenance and cleaning. A key advantage of plate heat exchangers is that they can be disassembled easily. Leave enough length of the bolt so that during maintenance it is not necessary to unscrew the bolt completely; simply loosening the nut is sufficient to pull the movable plate back, exposing all the internal plates. This greatly simplifies the process of cleaning the plates and replacing the gaskets, saving a significant amount of maintenance time and cost. Flexible scaling up or down is supported, as the load on the production process may change. When it is necessary to adjust the heat exchange area, the long bolts provide the necessary adjustment space. The operator only needs to loosen the bolts, increase or decrease the number of plates as needed, and then tighten them again; there is no need to replace the entire frame or bolt assembly, making it very flexible and convenient. Ensure a uniform distribution of compressive force; sufficient bolt length is necessary to ensure adequate thread engagement during tightening. This helps to achieve a uniform load distribution during tightening, preventing warping of the plates, seal failure, or leakage due to uneven stress, thereby ensuring the reliable sealing performance and service life of the equipment.
