1. Why are impact tests required for raw material sheets, pipes, and forgings of carbon steel equipment used in temperatures below -20°C? 2. According to GB/T 150, for pipes with an outer diameter not exceeding 70 mm and a wall thickness of not less than 6.5 mm, is it not necessary to conduct impact tests on such materials? Aren’t these two in conflict? What are the reasons why it doesn’t need to be done?
Carbon steel cannot be used below -20°C, except in low-temperature and low-stress conditions. Where specified in GB/T 150, those provisions shall apply.
The original poster should take a good look at what it says in point 2 regarding the standards!
