I’ve just started in this field and am still in the learning stage. I’d like to ask everyone: for basic equipment such as storage tanks and shell-and-tube heat exchangers, once one is proficient enough to start working on designs after obtaining the equipment’s data sheets, how long does it generally take to produce the final drawings?
The design and drawing time for basic equipment such as storage tanks or shell-and-tube heat exchangers mainly depends on the specific design complexity and the individual’s proficiency. Generally speaking, for a simple design and when the designer is highly skilled, it may take 1 to 3 days from receiving the data sheet to completing the drawings. If the design is complex or still in the learning* phase, it may take a week or even longer. .
For ordinary storage tanks, the total time required for calibration and review is 200 man-hours (excluding the platform). The exact time it takes to complete the work varies from person to person
Storage tank: 5-8 days, heat exchanger: 8-12 days
