Does a dry powder tank count as a container?

We have two sets of dry powder fire extinguishing systems, which mainly consist of high-pressure nitrogen gas cylinders and a 2m3 dry powder tank. The question now is whether this tank used to store dry powder qualifies as a pressure vessel; does it need to be registered, and should it be managed as such? The tank is normally not under pressure, with only transient pressure applied when it is used for fire extinguishing. The certificate of conformity for the tank states that it is a Class II container, and it was manufactured in accordance with the standards for pressure vessels; upon checking TSG21-2016, only foam tanks are mentioned there
Paragraph 3 of Section 1.5 of the Safety Technical Inspection Regulations for Fixed Pressure Vessels, under the scope not applicable, refers to “vessels whose normal operating pressure is less than 0.1 MPa”.
It seems to fall under the fire safety regulations I saw before; it’s better to consult the Special Inspection Institute for details
This post was last edited by zjq1962 on 2021-1-19 09:02. How can powder without a gas phase space be compressed? The original poster is asking about registration and management; the design and manufacture of dry powder tanks are regulated by industry standards.
You need to start with volume, medium, and pressure. Even if all the conditions are met, then it is still considered a gas cylinder.
I also want to know whether dry powder tanks are considered pressure vessels; I have two 3-ton dry powder tanks
The dry powder tank has a gas phase space during operation, and should be registered and used in accordance with the regulations for similar containers. :D
Pressure vessels that only need to meet the general provisions, design, and manufacturing requirements of these regulations as specified in 1.4.2 of the General Regulations for Large Capacity Vessels
No registration is required; only a usage registration certificate and periodic inspections are needed
We have the same type of container; we forgot to register it when we first purchased and started using it, and now the local inspection agency doesn’t care about it. The biggest problem now is that this container has reached its expiration date, and the inspection agency refuses to carry out the inspection
