At the manufacturing plant, I saw a piece of equipment whose upper cover was covered with small cones; I had no idea what their purpose was, they resembled the crown on Buddha’s head.

I’ve never seen it; guess: it’s a reaction vessel used in fine chemical manufacturing, equipped with an agitator. The openings on the cover serve as the material inlet, safety vent, connections for safety devices, and ports for instruments and meters.
It uses an flared cone shape, which makes it easier to clean with a cleaning ball, right?
There are also too many small vertebrae on this upper cap – what function can they serve? Is it because the liquid is evenly distributed?

What is the purpose of designing the pipe opening at the top of the device in this way? Is the cone shape intended to increase nozzle stiffness?
What was the consideration behind the shape of the flared opening?
1. This should be a forged part. 2. Has comprehensive reinforcement been taken into account for this?
