Dear experts, I previously saw that there are regulations requiring internal inspections of sulfuric acid storage tanks at least once every 5 years. I would like to ask for some information regarding the steps involved in such inspections as well as the preparatory measures needed. If anyone has tried making it, please share your experience. Thank you
It was done a long time ago: first, the contents inside the tank had to be emptied; second, the tank needed to be cleaned; third, it had to be filled and left to stand still; fourth, the tank was emptied and its opening opened for ventilation; finally, the gas concentration inside the tank was measured. Once the concentration reached a safe level, protective clothing was worn before entering the tank for inspection.
Empty at the lowest point, clean with steam or hot water. We now hire external services to fly drones, which is much faster than putting it into the tank – it saves at least half the time. When these times are converted into production capacity, it covers the cost of the drones.

You can search for the Baidu Fly Ability drone; it has a circular frame on it to prevent collisions. Just ask their engineers to bring the remote control. A single battery can power it for about ten minutes. The drone flies in and has built-in photography and video recording capabilities, allowing for clear viewing of welds and other details inside. It’s much faster than the regular method of putting things into the tank. Our company has been using drones for tank inspections and inspections in confined spaces since last year.
