The lugs on the floating head inside the heat exchanger are severely corroded; how can one determine whether it can still be used?
It seems unusable at first glance; if you’re not confident, you can polish it and then measure the dimensions. Please ask the design team to recalculate to determine whether it meets the requirements.
It’s impossible to determine this, as the total weight of the heat exchanger is unknown. Also, it’s not something that can be solved with just one type of lifting method; there are many ways to do it, and it still depends on the factors and parameters of the equipment itself. For reference.
Your heat exchanger has a diameter of over 1 meter; I don’t know how much the floating head weighs. Visually, there seems to be no problem; it is recommended to check the drawings and measure the actual size of the lifting lugs according to the dimensions specified in those drawings. If the deviation is not significant, then there is no issue.
It can only be said that there is a serious issue with the material chosen for the heat exchanger’s casing – it could corrode to such an extent. Additionally, the methods used for corrosion protection are also a concern; if painting cannot be used as a means of protection in high-temperature equipment, then the choice of material becomes even more important
