Last time, someone asked whether there were gaskets in the gap between the floating head and the shell of a floating-head heat exchanger, and whether fluid could flow through that gap; this time I took pictures, so it’s clear at a glance. Figure 1 shows multiple shots of the right side of the floating head, while Figure 2 shows a shot of the front side of the floating head.
Are you preparing to conduct a pressure test for leaks now?
Yes, after installing the floating head, pressurize the tube side to check for leaks at the flange connections of the floating head, tube box, etc.
May I ask if the space between the floating head and the large cover is connected to the shell side?
