Consultation on coil heat exchangers

I’m just starting to work with coil heat exchangers, and it’s still in the research phase for me; I’m not entirely clear on some basic aspects of design. 1. Is the winding angle the same for each layer of a coil heat exchanger? 2. Is the first layer wrapped completely without any gaps, or is it wrapped at an angle? As shown in Figure 1 and Figure 2, if only one is used for the first layer.
