This marks the official commissioning of China Petroleum’s first electric heating furnace. The electrical transformation project for the methyl ethyl ketone heat medium furnace is a scientific research and innovation initiative undertaken by Lanzhou Petrochemical to promote the development concept of \"dual carbon and three innovations.\" It is also a model project for China National Petroleum Corporation aimed at reducing energy consumption and emissions as well as increasing the level of electrification. Since its launch in October 2023, this project has received significant attention. The project conducts innovative research on the electrical transformation of the high-temperature heat medium furnace in an acetone production plant, aiming to adjust the energy structure, improve energy utilization efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, and help the enterprise achieve green, low-carbon, and sustainable development. It is understood that this project covers research areas such as the installation of electrically heated heat transfer fluid boilers, associated dry-type transformers, the installation of electrical control cabinets, electrical wiring, the expansion and renovation of instrument control systems, and the renovation of distribution rooms. It is characterized by high technical requirements and a tight timeline. During the project implementation, Lanzhou Petrochemical and the participating units overcame practical challenges such as limited space for installing electrically heated heat transfer oil furnaces, high precision requirements for installing new equipment, and difficulties in ensuring compatibility with existing systems. By coordinating efforts carefully and organizing things meticulously, they established a comprehensive quality management system to ensure strict control over the quality at every stage. At the same time, by firmly establishing the mindset that \"risks are everywhere and achievements reset every day,\" detailed safety work plans and emergency response plans were developed, on-site safety supervision was strengthened, and the goal of achieving \"zero accidents\" was realized. On June 25 of this year, the project completed all its construction tasks and was successfully handed over. “The successful operation of this project not only enables Lanzhou Petrochemical to take an important step in terms of energy conservation and emission reduction, but also serves as a model for Lanzhou Petrochemical and even the entire group company in exploring and promoting efforts to increase the level of electrification. ”According to Yang Junming, a senior expert in petrochemicals at Lanzhou Petrochemical, the electrically heated heat transfer furnace designed can achieve a thermal efficiency of over 98%, resulting in a reduction of 3,500 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year. This increases the electrification rate of the facility by 11%, providing a replicable model for the industry to pursue green energy transformation and achieve the \"dual carbon\" goals.
