Thanks to its ability to both carry loads and allow airflow, belt conveyors are widely used not only for transportation in natural environments but also in large-scale drying lines and cleaning lines. The basic function of a mesh belt conveyor is to transport materials. What sets it apart is its ability to perform transportation in environments with high temperatures, high humidity, and high corrosion levels. This is the characteristic and advantage of mesh belt conveyors, and it represents tasks that other types of conveyors are unable to carry out. The permeability of belt conveyors enables rapid cooling or drying of materials under high temperature or high humidity conditions during transportation (drying requires a heat source; otherwise, only natural moisture evaporation occurs), which is the main reason for their use in drying equipment. The proper tension of the conveyor belt directly affects its performance and service life. If the tension is too loose, it can cause the chain teeth to come loose or shift, while excessive tension again impacts the service life of the belt chain; in such cases, the belt may not be able to rotate properly or may jump up and down during rotation. Adjusting the tension of the mesh belt conveyor is carried out in three steps: first, it is necessary to adjust the parallelism between the drive shaft and the driven shaft (a lack of parallelism can cause the conveyor belt to deviate from its path and result in teeth on one side skipping). Next, the bearings and sprockets at the drive end are fixed, and the center distance between the sprockets is adjusted. The forced end must be tensioned in a parallel manner, from loose to tight. At this point, use your hand to lift the base belt vertically upward until the chain is 50 mm above its lower track, then stop. Finally, secure the bearing at the forced end as well as the tensioning bolts. Proper installation and adjustment of the belt conveyor at the time it starts operating are of great importance in determining its performance. Generally, for a belt conveyor to function properly, it needs to be equipped with an appropriate power supply; insufficient power can lead to vibration or noise, and in severe cases, it may even cause the motor to burn out due to prolonged overload operation, while excessive power will result in waste. Since the debugging of the starting device for the belt conveyor is a crucial factor in determining its future performance, it is particularly important to carry out proper debugging of this device. The calibration of the belt conveyor system consists of five steps: (1) Leveling the conveyor frame: After assembling the frame, each foot must be adjusted until the entire unit is level. (2) Installation of the conveyor belt: When installing the conveyor belt, it is necessary to measure the contact distance between the chain and the track to ensure that the belt makes proper contact with the track, without any distortion or deviation. After determining the exact length, the belts should be joined together in a circular pattern. (3) Tension adjustment: The initial adjustment of the belt tension should be set slightly looser than the normal tension. (4) Conveyer belt drive motor unit: The motor must be securely fixed, the chain tension should be proper, and then the sealing cover should be installed. (5) Startup of the conveyor belt: The conveyor belt should be started using a step-start method; set the frequency converter to 40HZ, and only press the button fully after ensuring there is no noise or oscillation. To start debugging the conveyor belt of the device, it is first necessary to adjust the parallelism and levelness of the belt; poor parallelism can lead to uneven stress distribution on the belt, while insufficient levelness will cause the belt to deviate from its path. When starting, use the jog method; once it has started, gradually increase the speed to the desired level – it is advisable to reach 60% of the normal speed within 24 hours. In general, a good belt conveyor not only needs to be well-designed but also properly tuned; only with the tuning done correctly can it ensure long-term operation.
