Gentlemen: After the chemical process pipeline expansion joints are installed, how should the fastening screws adjacent to them be adjusted? Can they be removed?
It should not be under stress, so it doesn’t need to be removed.
For transportation and installation; remove before operation
Without a picture, it’s impossible to know what kind of bolt you’re referring to. The expansion joint should be compressed while in operation; if it’s a fixed bolt, then it’s a pre-tensioned positioning bolt. In that case, the positioning bolt should be removed after the pipeline system is installed, otherwise the expansion joint won’t be able to perform its compensatory function. If it is a tie bolt that is not under stress at the moment, and serves to prevent the expansion joint from breaking due to instability, then it cannot be removed.
It cannot be removed during installation; it shall only be taken off after installation is complete and operation is running properly
