This year, Sichuan Shutai Chemical Technology Co., Ltd. has seen successive successes in selling low-temperature shift catalysts: after winning the bid for 300,000 tons per year of low-temperature shift catalysts for natural gas-based ammonia production at Ordos United Chemical in mid-August, and another bid in September for 450,000 tons per year of such catalysts for Hainan Fudao Chemical Fertilizer Plant under CNOOC, the company won another bid on September 28 for 110 tons of low-temperature shift catalysts for Chongqing Jianfeng’s second ammonia production facility, also using natural gas as a feedstock. Chongqing Jianfeng Chemical is a well-known large-scale chemical enterprise in China, producing 800,000 tons of synthetic ammonia and 1.3 million tons of urea annually. Both of its synthetic ammonia production units powered by natural gas utilize the low water-gas ratio Brown process technology imported from abroad. In July 2019, the SCST-231-53 type low-temperature shift catalyst developed independently by Sichuan Shutai Chemical was successfully installed in one of the company’s low-temperature shift units, replacing a well-known domestic catalyst. Under harsh operating conditions of full load and a low water-gas ratio (with the load remaining at 100% for extended periods and the water-gas ratio as low as 0.26), this catalyst achieved excellent performance: an inlet CO level of 3.2%, an outlet CO level below 0.16% (less than 50% of the design value), and a bed resistance as low as 20 Kpa or less. Therefore, after thorough consideration, the company chose the SCST-231-53 type low-temperature shift catalyst from Sichuan Shutai Chemical once again for this tender.
