Public announcement on the environmental impact assessment for Yangmei Shenzhou’s new coal chemical project. Author/Source: Huahua Network – Coal Chemicals. Date: March 19, 2018. Clicks: 9. On March 15, 2018, the first public announcement regarding the environmental impact assessment for the renovation project of Yangmei Group Shenzhou Fertilizer Co., Ltd. was issued. The upgrading and transformation project of Yangmei Group Shenzhou Chemical Co., Ltd. involves relocating the existing 250,000 tons per year ammonia synthesis unit and 50,000 tons per year methanol unit from their current locations. New facilities such as air separation, gasification, purification, ammonia synthesis, and sulfur recovery units will be built in the coal chemical and inorganic salt chemical zones of the Shenzhou Chemical Industrial Park. Additional auxiliary facilities including power stations will also be constructed, resulting in an overall production capacity of 500,000 tons per year of ammonia, along with the 250,000 tons per year of ammonia and 50,000 tons per year of methanol from the relocated units – totaling 800,000 tons per year of output. Shenzhou Fertilizer Company has currently built an ethylene glycol production facility with a capacity of 220,000 tons in the Shenzhou Chemical Industrial Park. The ethylene glycol project of Shenzhou Chemical, part of Yangmei Group, generated a profit of 150 million yuan throughout 2017, making it the newly built project within Yangmei Group’s chemical sector that contributed the most to profits. The gasification process for this project is carried out using a space furnace, and the patented ethylene glycol technology is provided by Hubei Huashuo, that is, the Wuhuan Consortium technology. Qualified ethylene glycol was produced by the end of 2016. The coal-to-ethylene glycol projects that Yangmei Chemical Group has successively established include: 400,000 tons per year of coal-to-ethylene glycol production at Yangmei Shouyang Chemical, 200,000 tons per year at Yangmei Shenzhou, 400,000 tons per year at Yangmei Pingding, and 200,000 tons per year at Yangmei Xilinhot. In 2017, the chemical industry of Yangquan Coal Group ended a three-year streak of losses and turned profitable; it achieved operating revenues of over 60 billion yuan for the whole year, with profits exceeding 300 million yuan. It is reported that in the first year of operation for the Shouyang Chemical coal-based ethylene glycol project, the utilization rate reached 85%, which is far higher than the domestic industry average of 64%. This made it the ethylene glycol project with the fastest rate of reaching full capacity, the most stable high-load operation, and the largest single-unit production capacity; it generated a profit of 95 million yuan for the entire year. The ethylene glycol project of Yangmei Group’s Shenzhou Chemical Plant generated a profit of 150 million yuan throughout the year, making it the newly built project with the highest profit contribution in the chemical industry. The environmental impact assessment for the project aimed at relocating Yangmei Group Shenzhou Fertilizer Co., Ltd. from the urban area to a designated industrial zone and upgrading its facilities was carried out by Beijing Zhonghuan Bohong Environmental Resources Technology Co., Ltd. (the assessment agency), upon commission from Yangmei Group Shenzhou Chemical Co., Ltd. (the project owner). In accordance with **laws and regulations, this is the first information release to the public. Yangmei Group Shenzhou Chemical Co., Ltd. and Beijing Zhonghuan Bohong Environmental Resources Technology Co., Ltd. are responsible for the accuracy of the information released at this stage. As the project implementation progresses and environmental impact assessments are carried out, the relevant information will be updated or adjusted.
In previous years, Yangmei Group was in the red due to the low technical level of its gasification units; however, with the gradual commissioning of new gasification units and the rise in prices of chemical products last year, the company was able to turn a profit – and several coal-to-ethylene glycol projects played a key role in this achievement!
