Lifting of multi-nozzle gasifier in Hubei completed – Author/Source: Multi-Nozzle; Date: 12-03-2019; Clicks: 91. Recently, the lifting of the gasifier in a multi-nozzle opposed water-coal slurry gasification project located in Hubei was successfully completed. A patent license agreement for multi-nozzle technology was signed on January 16, 2016; two multi-nozzle gasifiers are used in this project (one in operation and one as a backup), with an inner diameter of 3400 mm and a design pressure of 6.5 MPa. As of the time of writing, the foundation for the coal grinder has been poured; construction of the gasification framework has reached the sixth layer of support structures, and work is underway on the steel framework for slag water handling. At present, the static equipment such as the gasifier, lock hoppers, low-pressure flasher, and vacuum flasher, along with pumps, have arrived, and construction and installation are proceeding in an orderly manner. The project is scheduled to be mechanically completed by April 30, 2020, with operations ready to begin by June 30, 2020. Since the multi-nozzle gasification technology utilizes two separate feeding systems, **it reduces the risk of a shutdown of the entire furnace due to failures in the feeding systems, thereby ensuring system stability and reliability. As a result, the configuration with one active unit and one standby unit has been widely accepted by users. To date, there are 18 projects among those using this multi-nozzle technology that adopt this configuration, accounting for 30% of all licensed contracts. This approach also provides an excellent solution for facilities of smaller scale that are undergoing conversions to fixed-bed systems.
