The two methylammonium condensers are important components of the high-pressure section in the urea plant; their main function is to mix and condense the gas mixture consisting of carbon dioxide, ammonia, and water coming from the stripping tower, along with the methylammonium solution. The heat generated during condensation, as well as the heat from mixing, is used to heat the urine at the outlet of the stripping tower. Taking into account factors such as its leakage situation, scaling condition, and operating age, it was decided during this major maintenance period, following discussions by the company’s technical committee, to replace it with new equipment. The installation of three new high-pressure units marks a partial success in the maintenance work for the urea production plant.
