On August 21, the complete replacement of the conversion furnace in the second stage of the synthesis unit, which is a key component of the Jintianhua maintenance project carried out by Sinochem Ninth Construction Company’s First Installation Company, was successfully finished. The number of the second-stage converter is 100R1; its material is 14Cr1MoR, its height is 18.29 meters, and its weight is approximately 170 tons. The old furnace has been in use for about 30 years, and its maintenance is of top priority for the entire plant; the leadership at Jintianhua attaches great importance to this. This lifting operation requires high levels of technical expertise; it is necessary to ensure the replacement of the old furnace with a new one, while also ensuring the quality of alignment between the new furnace’s pipe ends and the old pipe ends used for connecting to the original furnace. The project team carried out overall planning at the site, actively communicated and coordinated with other participating units as well as the workers, to ensure the safety of the lifting area. From 7 a.m. when preparations began until 5:40 p.m. when the lifting was completed, through 10 hours and 40 minutes of continuous effort, the task of removing the old furnace and installing the new one was successfully finished, earning praise from the client.
