On September 16, Zhongyuan Dahuahua’s Fertilizer Division held a meeting in the conference room on the second floor to discuss the replacement of high-temperature shift catalysts in the ammonia synthesis plant. Cai Jiaomin, the company’s leader, presided over the meeting, with the heads of relevant departments and staff from the ammonia synthesis plant in attendance. The meeting was chaired by Chen Jixing, the deputy general manager of the Fertilizer Business Unit. Technicians from the ammonia synthesis plant explained the loading and operation of the high-variability furnace catalysts. The catalyst was installed in December 2012, and as of August 20, 2020, it had been in operation for 2,036 days; a total of 1.95 million tons of ammonia were produced, with an ammonia production rate of 23,472 tons per ton of catalyst. Comparison of operational data shows that the main reaction zone in the catalyst bed has shifted downward; the activity of the catalyst in the upper and middle layers has decreased, and there is a risk of the catalyst bed failing at any time. Based on past records of catalyst replacement, the catalyst has reached the end of its useful life ; The meeting analyzed catalysts in terms of safety, cost-effectiveness, etc., and during this analysis, both managers and employees shared their views and opinions on the issues. At the meeting, Cai Jiomin put forward several requirements regarding the handling approach; firstly, the branch factory should carry out technical exchanges with catalyst manufacturers ; Second, strictly monitor and control the manufacturing cycle ; Third, accelerate the processes of preparing technical specifications and conducting bidding ; Fourth, ensure that the replacement work is completed on schedule. Cai Jiemin acknowledged the efforts made by the Fertilizer Division and the ammonia synthesis plant in replacing the catalysts in the high-temperature reactors. He urged the division to further enhance technological innovation in order to improve efficiency, while also taking all necessary measures to maintain system stability and to carry out the replacement work as soon as possible, so as to ensure safe, stable, and long-term operation of production in 2021.
